The Inamorata Press was created by the author and illustrator solely to publish the Secrets of Creation trilogy (and possibly some related materials – we shall see). Having looked into the realities of conventional publishing, it seemed unlikely that anyone in that world was going to 'get', or be able to do anything with, books like these, so self-publishing seemed like the best way forward. Please don't send us your book proposals or manuscripts, as we have no plans to expand beyond this "small is beautiful" operation.

At the moment, books are being printed on 80gsm opaque paper, but we intend to switch to recycled paper once this becomes possible.

Our name can be traced back to a Miles Davis piece which impressed our songwriting friend Pok enough that he named one of his characters after in it (in the Inamorata and Other Tales song cycle), a modern bedsit-dwelling hippie girl incarnation of an Amazon warrior, who sets off on a cosmically-significant mission to Avebury... These songs were recorded by Pok's band, The Spacegoats in 1992, shortly after Matt Tweed joined on bouzouki and percussion.

Matt had hand-illustrated and lettered the cassette inlay card, which had much impressed Matthew Watkins, who'd met the band at Avebury during the summer solstice of '93. In the process of putting together volume one of the current trilogy, Matthew W created an electronic font file from scans of Matt T's caligraphic handwriting style, and named the font "Inamorata", as the cassette cover had been the first place he'd seen it. This font was then used for the cover, chapter headings, etc. Learning that we had to register as a publisher with the Nielsen ISBN agency, we needed a distinctive name, so we chose this.

Later, it dawned on MW that, based on the planned direction of volume three, the name may turn out to be quite appropriate (he said cryptically). That's something to look forward to.
